In short: A tech pack is the technical description of your product. The more complete it is — measurements, materials, construction, colours, labels and packaging — the more accurate the quotation and the fewer sampling rounds you need. If you only have a photo or a reference sample, that is a fine place to start.
Why the tech pack matters
Manufacturers price what they can see. When details are missing, they either guess (and the price changes later) or add a safety margin. A clear tech pack makes quotations comparable and protects you when you check the finished goods.
For garments
- Flat sketches, front and back, with key details marked
- Measurement chart with tolerances for every size
- Fabric: composition, weight (g/m²), construction (knit or woven) and finish
- Trims: buttons, zips, threads, interlinings
- Colour references, for example Pantone codes or a physical swatch
- Labels: main label, size label, care label and their position
- Packing: folding, polybag, hangtag, carton marking
For leather bags, belts and small leather goods
- Dimensions with tolerances and a construction drawing
- Leather type, thickness and finish (for example full-grain, nappa, suede)
- Lining and reinforcement materials
- Hardware: material, finish and supplier preference
- Edge finish, stitching type and stitch density
- Branding: embossing, debossing or metal logo, with position and size
Only have a photo or a sample?
That is common, and not a problem. Send what you have, together with your target price and quantity. We help you turn it into a usable specification during product development — before any money is spent on bulk production.
Before you send it
- One file per style, clearly named
- Quantities per colour and size
- Target price and target delivery date
- Any compliance requirements, for example REACH or specific test reports
Tip: our free tech pack checklist (PDF) is in the downloads section — print it and tick off each point before you request a quote.
